Western Papua: Escape from Baliem Valley → About 3000 m. above sea level
First of all, it’s not an easy trek as "Lonely Planet" suggest it. It’s actually quite hard especially if you have to carry your bag. I went with porters and with stock of simple food. Be sure to ask the locals (you must speak Indonesian) about current trail conditions if you travel independently! Otherwise you will be lost in mountains. Trekking poles are extremely useful.
